After a salesperson has had their license for two years, he or she can sit for the Broker's License exam. To prepare for this exam, you need 60 total hours of class work, including 30 hours of Basic Appraisal Principles and 30 hours of an elective of your choice. Brokers can sell real estate on their own, so they can open their own firms! It's a great step in the career of a real estate professional that means the potential for much career growth.

What you need to do:
-
Have had your Real Estate Salesperson's License for at least two (2) years
- Have a total of 60 hours of Principles & Practices of Real Estate class time. So, if you took the P&P a few years ago back when it was a 30-hour course, you can take another 30 hours now to complete your requirement. Call us at 203-265-5768 to jump into our P&P class now and get your hours! However, if you took the P&P course prior to 1994, your hours do not count anymore and you'll have to sit for the entire 60-hour course.
-
Take 60 more hours of coursework, including 30 hours of Basic Appraisal Principles (formerly, you would've needed to take Appraisal 1. The CT Department of Consumer Protection has deemed the Basic Appraisal Principles Course as the equivilent to the Appraisal 1 class as the 30-hour required Broker's Licensing course).
-
At MidState, we offer Basic Appraisal Procedures and Real Estate Law to fulfill the elective coursework requirements for a Broker's License.
